Miniscrum as an alternative to the whiteboard
So, you already using scrum with a white board, stickers, markers and you are happy with freedom you get but unsatisfied with whiteboard limitations. Don't you? Good. Miniscrum could be a better alternative for you and your team and that's why.
Miniscrum brings more flexibility
With it you can do things that are not so easy with white board:
- Easily edit sprints, user stories, tasks at any time inline
- Prioritize items with drag'n'drop at any time
- See the progress on per-task basis
- View auto-generated burndown charts
- Collaborate over the distance easily
Freedom is preserved
At the same time, miniscrum tries to keep as much freedom in actions as possible. It'll fit your's concrete scrum variation because it doesn't enforce many thing other tools do:
- Do you have 4 week sprints or 1 week? Or they variate often? It doesn't matter since sprint duration and dates aren't enforced yet possible.
- Do you absolutely need to set task assignments or decisions of who will do what will be delegated to the team? It doesn't matter since responsibility assignments aren't obligatory yet possible.
- Are roles in your team are strict, every single day? What do you do when your scrum master is ill? Does your product owner is a man that do everything that it is intended in “flawless” scrum? It doesn't mater for miniscrum, it have no roles at all. Everything is shared and accessible among team members.
